I decided to give Isabella a hair cut last night. I haven't given anyone a haircut since, well, since I whacked my Barbie's hair off in about first grade. Her hair is still so baby fine, that I don't think it looks good yet very long. Add to that the fact that her hair in front is still just coming in (that hair has never been cut) so the hair in back needs to be cut unless I want my child to be sporting a mullet around. It was definitely harder that it seemed it would be! The whole rest of the evening and this morning I was following her around with a scissers, I kept seeing little places I had missed. I think next time I will fork out the money, it's worth my piece of mind.

What are you talking about? It looks so cute!! I know where you're coming from, though. I blogged about the first scary time I tried to cut Isaac's hair, and I feel I've gotten better since then, or at least I'm not so worried about perfection (he runs fast, so you can't see the mistakes!).
For his first "real" haircut at age 2, I took him to a hair dresser and did that every 3 months until he was three. Then, I bought a clippers and tried it myself...it's not so bad! Last week I cut his hair outside, so I wouldn't have to clean up the mess inside. I used the clippers on the back and sides, then let him ride his bike down the driveway to let some of the hair blow off. But like you, I was tweaking it for awhile with the scissors on top, even while he was trying to ride his bike backwards. I swear, we were both safe, but I noted at the time that you sure wouldn't get that kind of hair cut experience at the hair dressers!
And for Simon, I usually cut it in the bathtub to keep him contained. But his I'm tweaking for days.
I have thought, lately, how will I ever cut a girl's hair? She just might get hers paid for...
I can't see anything wrong, looks great! But cutting a toddler's hair when it has to be SO straight is frightening! She doesn't look the least bit traumatized.
