Signs on the Go

Finally! After a whole month of videos not uploading, I found another way to do it. I think I messed something up because some of my templates I've had have not been directly from blogger. This one is, but who knows what the problem is, and blogger help hasn't been too helpful. Anyway, here is a half hearted attempt at some of her signs, she wouldn't sit still to do them. She's been doing them for quite a while, so far she does all done, change me, hungry, thirsty, and more. She got them all down on the first day I showed her. However, she's not as fast at picking up help me and thank you, which I have been trying to teach her for a while. It's working great for us, especially hungry. Instead of her getting whiny because I don't know what she wants, she just does the sign and I know immediately. Whoever invented baby sign language is a GENIOUS!

That's amazing that she has caught on so well! We have done some signs with Maggie but she doesn't immitate them back. She seems to know what they mean when I say them though. Any tips? That is so cool! And she is so tall! Are you tall? She is so big. More videos!

When I taught them to her, if she would come up to me and start fussing and I knew she was hungry I would just say, "No, when you're hungry do this, now show me that you are hungry." etc. Now everything is automatic for her, except she won't do the sign for change me unless I ask her if she needs to be changed, so she doesn't really understand that one, but I wouldn't expect her to yet I guess. Since Maggie understands them, I'm sure she will start doing them soon. Like I said, there are a couple I've been trying to get her to do for a while but she can't.
I guess she is fairly tall, I haven't thought about it too much. They have said she is tall at her checkups, especially for being a preemie. Now since she's one, though, they don't take that into consideration anymore. I'm 5'7, so about average probably.

She's great at those!! I've been using the eat/hungry sign with Charles every time he eats since I started feeding him solids in the hopes that he'll use it. That one and maybe "up" seem like they will be most useful for us. :o)

How old was she when you started?

We started at 12 months. That's great that you're doing them with Charles - he's going to be a pro!
