I used quilters batting to stuff between the pages in order to make them stiff. I attached the letters with Liquid Stitch.
And here is another one I just finished tonight for Monte's niece's first birthday this weekend.
I used a stencil and fabric paint on white felt for the letters, then zigzaged that onto the fabric. Make sure all your pages are completely assembled before sewing them together.
This is just an applique I bought, then handsewed on.
I cut the grass and flower stems from green felt, then attached it with Liquid Stitch. Then I sewed the flower and butterfly buttons on. The "cloud" is some furry trim I attached with Liquid Stitch.
I found these in the trim section in the fabric section of Wal-Mart. I hand sewed the top section only of each of them, so they can be pulled and dangled.
I used quilters batting between the pages of this book too. I also sewed a couple of layers of tissue paper in between to make it sound "crinkly".
And here are the rest of my projects I completed this winter.
I use this big tote bag to pack up Isabella's things for overnight trips. I bought the bag, and cross stitched the design on.
And as I've mentioned before, I'm a little obsessed with purses! I decided to make some, and see if they will sell at my garage sale this June. Who knows, maybe I could make a little money on them.

Ho-lee-cow. You're good. Where did you learn to sew? Did your mom teach you? I am scared of stuff like that. I made a quilt with my mom, a vest for Mrs. Schaffer in 9th grade (totally dorky and when I wore it, someone asked if I made it...bad sign, methinks), and I cross-stitch. And I can sew buttons on!
I still mean to post the bishop and Juan Diego sometime. They're laying downstairs right now -- that was probably your best work. (ha ha)
Oh, and those purses? AWESOME!
On a side note, do you know of any Montessori websites or anything with recommendations of learning toys, stuff like that? I kind of want to look into things along those lines for Isaac's birthday as an excuse to get more good educational things in our home.
Yes, my mom taught me to sew. I made an outfit every year for 4-H when I was in late elementary and junior high, I hated it. My mom always said, "you'll thank me one day" (not just for learning to sew, but numerous other things I hated doing). And I guess moms are right, because I am thankful.
And I remember making the vests in 9th grade, good times! :)
Oh yes, please post the bishop and Juan Diego sometime! I would love to see them again, unfortunately I have no idea where Mary went! She's got to be around my parents' house somewhere.
Also, here's a link for some Montessori things, I haven't looked too closely at it, but it does have some toy suggestions (look under "manipulatives". Hope it helps!
